“Faith is not a private matter, a completely individualistic notion
or a personal opinion: it comes from hearing, and it is meant to find expression
in words and to be proclaimed. For “how are they to believe in him of whom they
have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?”
Lumen Fidei, 22
A New Pentecost for
I love the writings of Pope Paul VI.
A quote that often inspires me is “Evangelization will never be possible
without the action of the Holy Spirit” (Evangelii
Nuntiandi, 75). I think this is
why I love being involved with Catholic Charismatic Renewal, because the purpose
of the Renewal is that people would come into a personal relationship with
Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to the Glory of God the Father!
It is this relationship that empowers us for evangelization.
What an exciting mission!
the New Evangelization
by Tammie Stevens
Reading the documents of the Church and our recent Church
history, phrases like “the new evangelization” and “new Pentecost” will be
familiar. Pope John XXIII opened the
Vatican II Council with this prayer: “O Divine Spirit, renew your wonders in
this our day as by a new Pentecost.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What a beautiful summer we have had. By the time you read this I will have
celebrated my one-year anniversary at WWCCR. I have learned so much and have so
much more to learn. My fondest memories are of each Healing Mass, Dwelling Place
Healing Nights, and the Pentecost Celebration. Any time I can be with you, is my
joy! Thank you for your prayers for myself and WWCCR. They are more precious
As we approach 2015 we have our eyes fixed on Jesus and the scripture from
Ephesians 4:12. “Equip the holy ones for the ministry, for the building up of
the kingdom of God.”
Pope Francis Speaks to the Renewal
On June 1, 2014 Pope Francis addressed the Italian Renewal in the Spirit
at the 37th Annual Convocation, organized with the cooperation of ICCRS and
the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities. Here is
an excerpt from Pope Francis' address:
This is your path: evangelization, spiritual ecumenism,
caring for the poor and needy, and welcoming the marginalized. And
all of it is based on worship! The foundation of the renewal is worshiping God!
They asked me to tell you what the Pope expects of you.
The first thing is conversion to the love of Jesus
which changes our lives and makes each Christian a witness to God’s love.
