“This is a prayer we must pray every day:
‘Holy Spirit, make my heart open to the word of God,
make my heart open
make my heart open to the beauty of God every day.’”

Deeper Life in the Spirit
by Bishop Sam Jacobs
Excerpted and edited from a talk given by Bishop Sam Jacobs at the National
Leaders’ Conference in Denver, 2013
What does it mean to grow deeper in the life in the Spirit?
The Spirit is given to us, not so that we can live in a minimal
relationship with God but so that we can come to the fullness of life with God.
“I’ve come that you may have life and life to the fullest” (John 10:10).
That’s what God wants! This
fullness is to begin now and come to perfection in eternity.
In imitation of Jesus’ surrender to the
will of the Father; we are called to place every thought, desire, action, and
choice under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and under the control of the Holy
Spirit. All that I am and all that I
have belongs to the Lord to be directed and used as He chooses.
It’s easy for us to say that - it’s hard for us to live it.
From Sue's Desk
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I hope in my letters to you each month that you are getting to know me.
I invite you to write to me, as well.
This month I would like to share with you some personal experiences in my
walk of faith, in hopes that they will help you in your walk with Christ.
I have always struggled with regular, consistent prayer time with God.
I would walk with Jesus through my day, praising Him and thanking Him and
loving Him, but found the discipline of formal prayer difficult.
Recently I read a truth that has propelled me to greater success in this
struggle. In the book, “Time for
God,” by Jacques Philippe, he says that the most important reason we pray is
because it pleases God. That made
all the difference for me. I would
do anything for God.
